and the Winner is...

The Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA!!!!

After looking at all of the different venues, we instantly fell in love with The Desmond. Kevin who showed us around was very sincere and up-front which we liked. We knew the moment we left The Desmond that this was where our wedding was going to be.

The deciding factors for us were:

- There is only one reception hall so we would be the only wedding/party that evening
- It was a hotel so our guests could enjoy themselves and stay overnight without having to be shuttled
- Their wedding package. The Desmond offered the most up-front wedding package out of all the other venues. The price was a fixed price and it included all taxes and gratuities. It could not get simpler. The fact that we did not have to do any math in our heads made a difference. We liked knowing what we were getting into ahead of time.
- The fell of the place. We just had this feeling. It was traditional and reminded me of my childhood home that I grew up in (thanks to the wallpaper). It just felt right.
- Lastly, the final deciding factor was Kevin Kessler whom we would be working with throughout the entire wedding process. Kevin had a sense of humor but was serious when the time came. My Mom, Mr. Lemon, and I all got along with him. We meshed well and couldn't imagine using anyone else but Kevin.

Once we decided on a venue, we started to get really excited. Now, we needed to pick a date. I wanted to do late April but The Desmond was already booked for April 27, 2013 but they had the prior weekend opened. It was Saturday, April 20, 2013. Yes, 4/20 aka National Marijuana Day.

No, we are not pot heads but yes, we did find it a little bit amusing that our wedding was going to be on 4/20. My Mom however, had no idea what the date meant. She also didn't understand why we would think it was funny. When people hear that our wedding is going to be on 4/20/13 we get one of two responses. It is either:

A) "Dude, your wedding is on 4/20??? Haaa! That's awesome!"
or
B) Oh. That is so nice. April is such a nice time of year. Congratulations.

Clearly you can see that the older generations fall into response B whereas majority of our friends respond with choice A. Should make for an interesting mix at the reception! I can't wait! It actually works out that we decided to go with a spring wedding. Our anniversary is 4/12/03. So on 4/20/13, our wedding day, we will have been together for 10 years! It has been a crazy ride and I am so excited to start the next 10 years!
